Today’s Flask Friday recipe is a healthy cucumber basil melon cooler. This cooler is so refreshing, healthy and can be made ahead and stored in your Happy Lush flask for a drink on the go. And with St. Patrick’s Day coming up, it’s the perfect green drink to get your day going! Even your kids will drink it; mine love it sprinkled with coconut flakes and sprinkles from Lucky the Leprechaun.
Refreshing and Healthy
This mocktail or cocktail, depending on your mood, is a base of cucumber, fresh basil leaves and honeydew melon blended with pineapple flavored coconut water. I add in a tablespoon of agave for a little sweetness but feel free to leave that out.
Have fun with it and play with the ingredients. If you prefer more melon over cucumber, do that! You could even blend in a banana if you wanted more of a smoothie-type drink. And believe me, when the mercury starts to rise over 90º, this will come in handy.
It’s all about the base
After you’ve blended up the base, you’ll want to strain the juice to ensure you have an even consistency for your drink. Nothing worse than a drink with a big chunk in it:) You don’t need any fancy equipment, just use a regular strainer and put it over a glass pitcher or big cup or whatever you have on hand.
Happy Lush on the go
At this point, you can add your base into your Happy Lush flask and head on out. Once you reach your destination, either drink directly from your flask for a healthy juice or now you can make a mocktail/cocktail in your Happy Lush tumbler or glass.
If making a mocktail/cocktail, add ice to your Happy Lush tumbler, pour in the juice base and top with club soda or a cucumber soda. I like Dry Soda’s Cucumber soda. And if your Happy Lushin’, add in a shot or two of cucumber vodka, vodka, or even gin. Yum, I love me some gin!
Until next Flask Friday–
