We read “What is the Statue of Liberty” during We read “What is the Statue of Liberty” during our homeschool, but seeing it all in person was pretty cool! * We took the ferry from Battery Park- we read to get there two hours early so we did and it was already busy at 8am. It’s airport level security, but it went fast and was very organized! The ride takes you to the statue and to Ellis Island. Make sure to explore both places. Awesome views of the city from either location. It was windy and super cold the day we were there, so plan accordingly. The cafe had decent coffee if you need to warm up😉 * It took us about four hours from arrival at Battery Park to departing the ferry at the same location. Easy subway access and they have food and snacks aboard the ferry and at the museums. Remember to take your National Park passport book- the Statue of Liberty is a National Monument and you can get a stamp! Ellie has Nordies, Kyle has Porsche/Lamborghini of Ellie has Nordies, Kyle has Porsche/Lamborghini of Manhattan. * Sometimes it’s the things you don’t have planned that end up being the most fun. We were having pizza for lunch and Kyle says- let’s go to the Bugatti store. It was all the way up town and we were in lower Manhattan and only Kyle felt like going up there. But, we went because it was his turn to pick something to do. And it was worth it! * The salesman took us upstairs so Kyle could see all the fancy cars. He was in heaven when he got to sit in cars he’d only ever seen online. The Koenigsegg (maroon color) was 3.2mil!! The Empire State Building! * Be aware when you buy The Empire State Building! * Be aware when you buy your tickets that you can only go to the 102nd floor. It was an additional $152 for us to get to the 120th (top viewing)) floor, so we passed on that, which was irritating. I bought our tickets through City Pass and I couldn’t find anywhere that said you could not go to the top! * It didn’t really matter though because my kids just wanted to be in the lobby to see where Elf was filmed🤣 note that the lobby is only accessible when you are exiting the tour. * There is a cool exhibit and it’s been redone since I came here years ago. I remember taking old escalators and elevators to get to the top.
